Weekend Trip Report

Friday early int he morning I left on Southwest airlines headed down to BWI Airport, the flight was delayed and they had the seatbelt sign on the whole time cuz of bad weather and terbulance. BWI Aiport is pretty nice. Then we got to the rental car place. Originally we had a Corolla reserved, but we got a cheap upgrade via coupons to another class, they gave us a Ford Mustang. Twas an ok car, there were defenate signs of abuse on it tho, it felt like an old 70s american car. Not a good show on Ford's part. The rest of the trip was a 300 mile drive down to Hampton VA. Baltimore Washington Pkwy is a nice drive, but when we got to I-95 in the Alexandria area, traffic was really bad, on a friday morning away from Washington, where the hell are those Virginians going, who knows, and the HOV lane was set to northbound so we couldn't use it either.

Eventually we made it to Virginia, I-64 was moving so that was a plus. We got to th e Embassy suites about mid afternoon. This hotel is REALLY nice. Its got free buffet brekfast, a glass elevator and a large atrium lobby. The evening airshow was really nice, the F-22 Raptor demo was really loud and awesome, he was maneuvering the plane like it was a light stunt prop plane but meanwhile its has two jet engines. I got these dog tags made at one of the tents near the souvenirs n stuff, it was $10 for a set of authentic military dog tags. After the show we had dinner at this place called Bennigans, my dad had this thing called a Monte Cristo, it didnt look that nice, and my dad didnt like it either he said it was awful. I had a chicken sammich which was ok.

The next day we went to the airshow again for the saturday show at Langley Air Force base in Hampton, VA. It was a lot of fun, the highlights were the F-15 demo, the F-22 demo, the flyby of the stealth fighter, the F-117 nighthawk. In the evening after the show we went down to Virginia Beach which is just down the road along I-64 and I-264. We had dinner at this nice italian food restaurant, then walked around for a bit. Its off-season so theres not much going on. When I go there for the NAS Oceana show this September it will be a lot more populated.

Sunday we went to the sunday show, it was nice, afterwards it was back in the Mustang headed northward back to Baltimore Washington International airport. We hit a bit of stop n go traffic in some parts, which amazes me, why are interstates in the middle of nowhere in Virginia backing up. We tuned to some radio station with Nascar coverage for the full redneck effect, big american muscle car, nascar on the radio, all we needed was the accent, tho i like my new yorker accent thank u very much. Nascar is only exciting when they crash, cuz they can make some exciting collisions. We made it to BWI a few hours later, and managed to take an early flight home back to New York, which was nice they gave out peanuts and drinks for a 45 min flight! Delta doesn't give you shit when you go down to Florida.

Best quote from teh trip

me: "lets go in the HOV lane"
dad: "no way, its one lane and what if we get stuck behind Granma Moses doin 50 in there?"
