Last weekend I went to Washington, DC for the weekend. It was a fun trip, but very very tiring. A lot of walking was involved. I arrived there on friday, that afternoon, we went into the city via the WMATA Metro. Their metro system is interesting, one thing of note is the stations are very dark. They use a lot of strange lighting effects such as putting lights only along the walls and little lights on the floor.
As for the city itself, it only looks small on the map. Its quite a big city, and getting from the famous places like the capitol building to the white house take a lot of walking. 15 blocks to be precise, 15 long blocks along Pennsylvania Avenue.
The next day we went to the Joint Service Open House Air Show at Andrews AFB. There was a lot of things on display, a lot of planes, including the special Delta 757 passenger plane in the special breast cancer awareness design, the F/A 18 from VFA-31 the tomcatters. The perfomances included a variety from jet powered fighters like the F-15 and F-22, to propellor powered stunt planes like the Oracle Challenger.
I had lotsa fun on my weekend, and this coming weekend is another air show, but this one is closer to home, at Jones Beach.
